Running back James White, who captured three Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots, announced his retirement from football on Thursday.
The 32-year-old White spent his entire eight-year career with the New England Patriots and won the Super Bowl during the 2014, 2016 and 2018 seasons.
His 14 receptions and 20 points scored during Super Bowl LI set records as the Patriots orchestrated the largest comeback in Super Bowl history. White scored the winning touchdown in overtime as the Patriots erased a 25-point deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28.
“New England will be in my heart forever,” White wrote in a social media post. “Thank you for unwavering support over the years. I am forever grateful.
“This chapter has been one that I will cherish. I look forward to what is next.”
After four seasons at Wisconsin, White was drafted in the fourth round, 130th overall, by the Patriots in 2014.
