NFL Week 6 Pick ‘Em: Niners, Seahawks banged up heading into Thursday nighter

Week 6 of the NFL season has arrived, and there’s been some massive New York Jets news with the team firing head coach Robert Saleh. It’ll be intriguing to see if this enhances their football odds of winning the Super Bowl in what’s been a disappointing season thus far.

With that said, I’ll examine the latest NFL odds via the BetMGM online sportsbook and pick each game against the spread.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks and 49ers are both coming off losses at home. The 49ers have multiple injuries, including tight end George Kittle, cornerback Charvarius Ward and kicker Jake Moody. Seahawks CB Riq Woolen didn’t practise to start the week, either.

These teams allow similar yards in the passing and rushing game, and it’s a short week. I’ll lean toward the home underdog. Both sides are beat up heading into this one.
PICK: Seahawks +3.5 (-115)

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Chicago Bears
The Jaguars got their first win in a 37-34 game against the Joe Flacco-led Colts.

In Week 6, they’re on the road against the Bears and an improving Caleb Williams, who has thrown for 300-plus yards in two of his last three games.

The Jaguars allow nearly 300 passing yards and two passing touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks. They also don’t have an interception this year.

The Bears win and cover at home.
PICK: Bears -2.5 (-110)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints
Saints QB Derek Carr suffered an oblique injury on Monday Night Football against the Chiefs, leaving his Week 6 status in doubt. Backup Jake Haener completed two of seven passes for 17 yards. However, we could see Spencer Rattler start if Carr sits.

The Buccaneers have scored 30-plus points in back-to-back games. Tampa wins this game.
PICK: Buccaneers -3.5 (-110)

Washington Commanders vs. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens have trouble against the pass, allowing 304 passing yards per game. They also allowed Bengals QB Joe Burrow to toss five touchdowns last week. However, they’re stout against the run, including against QBs. Opposing QBs average six yards per game (2.58 yards per carry), while opposing running backs average just 48 yards and 2.89 yards per carry.

The Commanders have been explosive, but the Ravens will eliminate Commanders QB Jayden Daniels’ rushing ability.
PICK: Ravens -6.5 (-110)

Arizona Cardinals vs. Green Bay Packers
The Packers have at least one interception in every game this season, but they also allow 255 passing yards and nearly two passing touchdowns per game. Against the run, they allow 92 yards per game and 4.65 yards per carry.

The Cardinals have an emerging tandem of receivers with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson, and the squad is coming off an impressive 24-23 road upset over the 49ers.

I expect the Packers to win, but the Cardinals will cover.
PICK: Cardinals +5 (-110)

Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans
It’s unclear who the Colts will start at QB. In Week 5 against the Jaguars, Flacco threw for 359 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

The Titans have been solid against the pass, holding teams to 142 passing yards per game. Still, Titans QB Will Levis is too erratic, with six interceptions and three fumbles.

Take the Colts as one-point favourites, regardless of the QB situation.
PICK: Colts -1 (-110)

Houston Texans vs. New England Patriots
The Texans allow 4.19 yards per carry and nearly two passing touchdowns per game, but they’ll take on a stagnant Patriots offence.

The Patriots have scored 26 points combined over the last three weeks and lost to the Dolphins 15-10 in Week 5.

The Patriots offence doesn’t have enough firepower to cover the spread.
PICK: Texans -7 (-110)

Cleveland Browns vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are coming off a bye and face a Browns team that has arguably the worst QB in the league with Deshaun Watson.

Watson averages 4.84 yards per attempt and hasn’t topped 196 yards in a game all year.

The Browns also allow opposing RBs nearly 100 rushing yards per game and will have to handle RB Saquon Barkley.

This is a sizable spread, but I have no faith in Cleveland.
PICK: Eagles -8.5 (-110)

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos
The Chargers are coming off a bye, but there are still ample questions surrounding the health of numerous players, including both offensive tackles.

Both teams allow less than one passing touchdown per game. The Chargers have allowed one rushing touchdown. The Broncos have allowed two rushing touchdowns but have played one more game than the Chargers.

I expect a low-scoring game. Take the home underdog, who is on a three-game winning streak.
PICK: Broncos +3 (-110)

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders benched QB Gardner Minshew after two interceptions, only for Aidan O’Connell to throw an interception of his own. The team is still dealing with the fallout of the impending departure of wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Raiders have allowed 58 pressures and 13 sacks, and the Steelers have 13 sacks (tied for ninth).

The Raiders are a flailing team. Take the Steelers.
PICK: Steelers -3 (-105)

Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers
The Falcons are coming off a game in which QB Kirk Cousins passed for more than 500 yards.  However, the Falcons have just five sacks this season, the least in the league.

Panthers QB Andy Dalton completes 69.4 per cent of his passes and three touchdowns when kept clean.

This game could have some live sports betting opportunities if the Panthers take a quick lead at home.

The Panthers cover but lose at home.
PICK: Panthers +6 (-110)

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys got the win in Week 5. In Week 6, they host the Lions, who are coming off a bye.

The Lions allow 276 passing yards and one touchdown per game.  Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is averaging 284.8 yards per game.

In Week 5, they got the running game going with Rico Dowdle, who had 20 carries for 87 yards.

The Cowboys are home underdogs against a beatable secondary.
PICK: Cowboys +3 (-105)

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Giants
The status of Giants WR Malik Nabers is up in the air.

The Giants allow 227 passing yards and more than one passing touchdown per game, including three games with two touchdown passes. Burrow had five passing touchdowns in Week 5.  They also allow nearly five yards per carry to opposing RBs.

The Bengals have too much offence.
PICK: Bengals -3.5 (-110)

Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets
Buffalo QB Josh Allen appeared to suffer a head injury last week but returned in a losing effort that dropped the odds of the Bills winning the Super Bowl to +1100.

The Jets fired Saleh and his 20-36 career record on Tuesday. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich steps in as the interim coach.

We’ve recently seen teams rally around the interim head coach to get a win, including the Raiders last season with Antonio Pierce and the Colts in 2022 behind Jeff Saturday.

Look for New York to rally around the coaching change and win.
PICK: Jets +2.5 (-110)
