Report: Chargers’ Herbert preparing to play vs. Steelers

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is preparing to play and will be a game-time decision against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Herbert suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Chargers’ 26-3 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. The fifth-year pro was officially listed as questionable on the team’s injury report heading into Week 3.

Los Angeles is preparing for Herbert to take the field Sunday, but do have contingencies that involve both Easton Stick and Taylor Heinicke as replacements, Schefter adds.

Relying on a steady ground game, Herbert has been solid under centre in through the first two weeks in 2024, completing 67.4 per cent of his passes with three touchdowns, one interception, and 274 yards.

The Chargers have started the season 2-0 in their first campaign with Jim Harbaugh as head coach. The Steelers also are 2-0.
