Report: Jets sign eight-time Pro Bowl LT Tyron Smith to one-year deal

The New York Jets are expected to sign eight-time Pro Bowl and former Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal with incentives could be worth up to $20 million.

Smith played 13 seasons with the Cowboys after being selected ninth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Smith is also a two-time All-Pro, cracking the first team in 2014 and 2016.

The veteran joins a Jets offensive line that has plans to improve in 2024 after a disappointing season that saw the unit allow the fourth-most sacks and finish with third-worst run blocking grade, according to Pro-Football Focus.

After trading for four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers last off-season, the Jets saw only one series with their new signal caller before he tore his achilles in the team’s season opener.

With Rodgers expected to start the season, the Jets will aim to improve upon its 7-10 record from 2023.
