Report: Patriots signing Hunter Henry to three-year, $37.5M deal

The New England Patriots’ free-agent spending spree continues.

Fresh off doling out $194.5 million on Day 1 of the NFL’s “legal tampering” period, including a reported $50 million over four years on arguably the top tight end available in Jonnu Smith, the Patriots spent big again Tuesday, signing former Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry to a three-year, $37.5-million deal, including $25 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Henry, 26, has racked more than 600 yards receiving in back-to-back campaigns for the Chargers, catching nine touchdowns during that span.

He tore his ACL and missed the entire 2018 campaign after totalling 1057 receiving yards and 12 TDs over his previous two seasons with the Chargers organization.
