Patriots trading pass rusher Josh Uche to Chiefs for draft pick

An already strong Kansas City defence is about to get stronger.

The Chiefs are acquiring outside linebacker Josh Uche from the New England Patriots, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.

Kansas City is sending a 2026 sixth-round pick to New England, Rapoport added.

Uche was a healthy scratch in Sunday’s game against the New York Jets as the team expected to move him ahead of the Nov. 5 trade deadline.

The 26-year-old has two sacks in six games this season and has 20.5 sacks over his five-year career. He enjoyed a breakout 2022 campaign, finishing with 11.5 sacks, but was unable to get back to that level in the following season.

Uche, a second-round pick by New England in 2020, re-signed with the Patriots on a one-year, $3 million deal. He’s set to become an unrestricted free agent this off-season.

The Chiefs have allowed the fifth-least points in the NFL this season (123) and the second-least yards (2,065), helping them to a spotless 7-0 so far.

This is the second move the Chiefs have made in less than a week after acquiring WR DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday.
