After his team’s statement victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday, New York Jets standout rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner made himself a bit of a viral sensation with a unique piece of headgear.

Gardner ran off the field wearing a famous Wisconsin cheesehead. As he approached the tunnel, Packers receiver Allen Lazard knocked it off his head.

Gardner said visiting Jets fans put the cheesehead on him.

“So I just had to take it and run with it,” Gardner said.

The fourth overall pick in this year’s draft said the day was unforgettable.

“Just being able to play against somebody like Aaron Rodgers, that was a true blessing,” Gardner said. “I grew up playing Madden and he’s always been on Madden since I can remember. Running off the field with cheese on my head, that was a crazy feeling.”

The Jets are one of the big surprises in the league, having won three in a row to improve to 4-2.

Lazard, meanwhile, doesn’t sound like he’ll be holding a grudge.
