The Texans just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to injuries this season.
Houston defensive end Will Anderson suffered an apparent ankle injury against the New York Jets on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the first quarter as Anderson chased Jets running back Breece Hall for the tackle. One of Anderson’s teammates fell onto the pass rusher’s leg and tripped him up, causing him to stay down on the field for an extended period before eventually being helped back to the locker room.
Though he later returned to the game, he left again at the start of the third quarter and the team announced he was questionable to return.
Anderson, 23, has enjoyed a productive year for the Texans, tallying 7.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss in eight games this season.
The Muskegon, Mich., native was named Defensive Rookie of the Year and earned a spot in the Pro Bowl last season after picking up 7.0 sacks and 10 tackles for loss in 15 games.
The Texans selected him third overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
The Texans (6-2) are currently on top of the AFC South but have dealt with a bevy of injuries in recent weeks, including a torn ACL on WR Stefon Diggs and a hamstring injury to WR Nico Collins.
They also lost left guard Kenyon Green, who was ruled out at halftime with a left shoulder injury.
