Around the NHL: Flames’ Vladar, Jets’ Brossoit to make first starts

Calgary Flames goaltender Dan Vladar will make his first start of the season in Thursday’s road game against the Buffalo Sabres, coach Ryan Huska told reporters after morning skate.

Jacob Markstrom has started the club’s first three games, going 1-1-1.

The plan was to start Vladar on Monday in Washington, but he was sick. The Capitals won 3-2 in a shootout.

Vladar went 14-6-5 with a 2.87 goals-against average and 8.94 saves percentage last season.
