New York Rangers star defenceman Adam Fox was a full participant at morning skate on Monday, a sign that he could return as soon as Wednesday from injury.
The Rangers placed Fox on long-term injured reserve on Nov. 3 with a lower-body injury.
Fox is eligible to return Wednesday when the Rangers face the Detroit Red Wings.
Fox is a two-time all-star and won the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenceman in 2021.
Fox, 25, has three goals and eight assists in 10 games this season. He had 72 points in 82 games last year.
Senators goalie Joonas Korpisalo was on the ice for morning skate ahead of Monday’s game against the Florida Panthers and is feeling a lot better, according to Ottawa coach D.J. Smith.
Korpisalo has missed the past two games with an undisclosed injury. Smith would not confirm his starter.
Sergei Bobrovsky will start for Florida.
Sabres defenceman Mattias Samuelsson will be a game-time decision on Monday against the New York Rangers, Buffalo coach Don Granato told reporters.
Samuelsson took a stick to the face in Saturday’s loss against the New Jersey Devils and exited in the first period.
Goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was in the starter’s net at Sabres morning skate after Eric Comrie had a rough night Saturday in New Jersey.
Islanders defenceman Sebastian Aho has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to Friday, the team reported Monday.
Aho suffered an upper-body injury in Friday’s win over the Ottawa Senators.
Fellow defenceman Adam Pelech (upper-body injury) was injured in the same game and was placed on long-term injured reserve over the weekend.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Penguins forward Bryan Rust practised Monday as he closes in on a return from a lower-body injury.
Coach Mike Sullivan said Rust likely will be a game-time decision for Tuesday’s game against the Nashville Predators.
Rust has missed the past three games. He has nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 17 games this season.
