The NHL draft lottery will be remote and held May 10.
The 16 teams that failed to make the playoffs will be included in the draft lottery, with weighted odds for those teams toward the bottom of the overall league standings.
The Buffalo Sabres won last year's draft lottery, using the No. 1 pick to take Canadian phenom Owen Power.
The NHL Entry Draft this year is scheduled to be July 7-8 in Montreal. The consensus No. 1 pick this year is Kingston Frontenacs scorer Shane Wright.
