The Bowen Byram injury saga continues.
After missing the past nine games with an undisclosed upper-body injury, Byram's agent is attempting to provide a bit of clarity on the situation.
"Darren Ferris reached out to me today," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said on Saturday Headlines. "He wanted to say that the reason Byram has not come back yet is due to his desire to have Byram see a certain specialist."
Ferris did not elaborate on what Byram's injury is or what the specialist would look at.
"He just said that he wants Byram to see a certain specialist and until that gets done, that's the reason Byram has not returned," Friedman continued.
Byram last played on Oct. 13 and did not appear to have an injury. Two days later, head coach Jeff Blashill classified the defenceman as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
The Cranbrook, B.C. native was the marquee addition for the Blackhawks this off-season, trading the 2026 fourth-overall pick to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for the blue-liner. He's suited up for six games with his new squad, registering one assist while averaging 24:42 per game.
Byram, 25, won the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 2022.
