Alex Chiasson, who spent 11 seasons in the NHL and won the Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals, has announced his retirement, the NHLPA said Monday.
Chiasson last played in the league with the Detroit Red Wings during the 2022-23 season and recorded six goals and nine points in 23 games. He signed a professional tryout with the Boston Bruins the following August but was released before the season began.
The 34-year-old forward from Montreal was drafted in the second round, 38th overall, by the Dallas Stars in 2009.
Chiasson appeared in 16 playoff games with the Capitals during the 2017-18 season, registering one goal and one assist, en route to capturing the Stanley Cup.
He joined the Edmonton Oilers the following season and recorded career highs of 22 goals and 38 points.
He finished his career with 233 points (120 goals and 113 assists) in 651 games with the Stars, Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames, Capitals, Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Red Wings.
