Goaltender Jeremy Swayman was awarded a one-year, $3.475-million contract with the Boston Bruins by an independent arbitrator on Tuesday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
The sides were fairly far apart before the hearing. Friedman reported the Bruins were offering a $2-million salary, while Swayman was seeking $4.8 million.
A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Swayman is coming off his three-year, entry-level deal worth $3.125-million.
Last season Swayman, 24, formed, along with Linus Ullmark, a dominant duo as the Bruins ran the table in a record-setting, Presidents’ Trophy-winning 65-12-5 year. For his part, Swayman went 24-6-4, with a 2.27 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage, to help the Bruins duo win the Jennings Trophy.
Over his career, the Bruins’ fourth-round pick (111th overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft is 54-23-7, with a 2.24 GAA and .920 save percentage.
