Down 2-0 in their series with the New York Rangers, the New Jersey Devils appear to be set for a change in goal in Game 3 on Saturday night.
Vitek Vanecek, who has allowed nine goals in the first two games and is sporting a .827 save percentage, looks like he'll make way for Akira Schmid, if the tea leaves and the tried-and-true hockey method of "whoever leaves the ice first in the morning is the starter" are correct.
Schmid, just 22 and with 24 NHL games of experience, had a 9-5-0 record this season along with a 2.13 goals-against average and .922 save percentage.
You can be watch Game 3 on Sportsnet ONE and SN NOW at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
Winnipeg Jets
Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers won't play in Game 3, having failed to gain medical clearance, according to Sportsnet's Ken Wiebe.
Ehlers has not played since April 11 after taking a hit from the Minnesota Wild's Ryan Hartman.
Ehlers cleared concussion protocol but missed the team's final regular-season game. He told reporters before the playoffs he was ready to play, but is still out with an upper-body injury.
Head coach Rick Bowness was otherwise tight-lipped about any other lineup games for the game.
The series between Winnipeg and Vegas resumes on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. CT and can be watched on Sportsnet and SN NOW.

Toronto Maple Leafs
Maple Leafs' defenceman Luke Schenn fought Tampa's Tanner Jeannot in Toronto's Game 2 win, and has seven stitches to show for it.
"He knows what he's doing," the veteran told Sportsnet's Luke Fox on Saturday morning.
Schenn had to leave the ice in order to receive repairs and raised eyebrows when he tried to return to finish serving his penalty. None of the officials saw him and dropped the puck at a faceoff in Tampa's end of the ice, while Schenn hurried across the ice.
Game 3 between Toronto and Tampa can be seen on Sportsnet and SN NOW at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Saturday.
Boston Bruins
The news is not great for the Bruins, despite being up 2-1 in their series with the Florida Panthers.
Head coach Jim Montgomery says forward David Krejci is questionable for Game 4, according to Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic.
Krejci did not play in Game 3 due to an upper-body injury.
Back-up goalie Jeremy Swayman could get the start in Game 4 over starter Linus Ullmark, Shinzawa reports.
Ullmark has played in all three playoff games so far, but has been nursing an undisclosed injury that continues to make his participation an ongoing debate.
Captain Patrice Bergeron, however, remains on track for a return in Game 5.
Florida Panthers
The Panthers could be getting some help back for Game 4 against the Bruins.
Defenceman Aaron Ekblad, who only played 13:29 of Game 3 after missing all of the third period, is a game-time decision, according to George Richards of FloridaHockeyNow.com.
Ekblad, who has averaged 23 minutes per game in his career, took full part in Saturday's practice.
Carolina Hurricanes
Hurricanes forward Teuvo Teravainen had surgery on his left hand on Thursday, the team reported. The fact it was deemed "successful" will be of little consolation as he remains out indefinitely and highly unlikely to return for Carolina's first-round series with the New York Islanders.
Teravainen was slashed on the hand by the Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau in Game 2 of their first-round series. There was no call on the play.
Carolina is already without Max Pacioretty and core forward Andrei Svechnkov to season-ending injuries.
