Veteran forward Austin Watson has landed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning after a successful training camp tryout.
The contract will pay Watson $776,665 this season, a number that will help the Lightning maximize long-term injury reserve flexibility.
Watson, 31, is entering his 10th NHL season and is coming off three years with the Senators.
Known for his physical play, Watson has 114 points and 612 penalty minutes in 482 games played.
The Lightning open the season Tuesday afternoon against the Nashville Predators.
