The Toronto Maple Leafs will remain without their captain for at least one more game.
Auston Matthews will not play on Wednesday against the Florida Panthers, despite participating in a full practice skate on Tuesday, the team said.
The 27-year-old suffered an upper-body injury on Nov. 3 against the Minnesota Wild. Wednesday’s game against the Stanley Cup champions will mark his ninth consecutive contest out of the lineup.
Without the forward, the Maple Leafs have gone 7-1-0, and have a 13-6-2 record on the season so far. The Panthers rank directly below them in the Atlantic Division with a 12-9-1 record.
You can watch the Leafs at the Florida Panthers on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
