The Colorado Avalanche acquired defenceman Caleb Jones from the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday in exchange for forward Callahan Burke.
Jones, the younger brother of NHL defenceman Seth Jones, spent the 2022-23 season with the Chicago Blackhawks, recording 16 points (four goals and 12 assists) in 73 games.
The 26-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Hurricanes this off-season worth $775,000. Carolina had placed Jones on waivers, which he cleared on Oct. 7.
Burke, also 26, played two games with the Avalanche in 2022-23. He spent the remainder of the season in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles, recording 39 points (16 goals and 23 assists) in 70 games.
Despite the trade, Burke will remain with the Eagles on loan as the Hurricanes no longer have their own AHL affiliate.
