The Colorado Avalanche announced Saturday morning that star forward Nathan MacKinnon has been activated off of injured reserve.
The Avalanche are set to face off with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. Head coach Jared Bednar said Friday that it was possible MacKinnon would make his return for the New Year's Eve game.
Colorado also reassigned Charles Hudon to its AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, on Saturday.
The 27-year-old MacKinnon has been on injured reserve with an upper-body injury since a Dec. 5 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
In 23 games this season, the two-time all-star has produced eight goals and 34 points.
Hudon, meanwhile, had yet to register a point in nine games with the Avalanche in 2022.
Colorado currently sits at 19-12-3 and enters Saturday's game in seventh place in the Western Conference.
