The Colorado Avalanche are locking in some defensive depth.
Keaton Middleton agreed to a two-year contract with the club on Thursday.
Middleton, a 26-year-old from Edmonton, has split time between the Avalanche and the AHL's Colorado Eagles this season.
In 10 games with the big-league club, the six-foot-six defenceman has a plus-one rating and seven penalty minutes. He has not registered a point.
Across 333 career AHL contests, Middleton has recorded 85 points (21 goals, 64 assists).
