Avalanche sign forward Taylor Makar to one-year, entry-level contract

Taylor Makar is joining his brother Cale on the Colorado Avalanche.

The younger Makar has signed a one-year, entry-level contract for the 2025-26 season, the Avalanche announced Monday.

The 24-year-old forward from Calgary recorded 30 points (18 goals and 12 assists) in 38 games with the University of Maine this season. He led the team with six game-winning goals.

Makar will spend the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League on an amateur tryout.

The Avalanche drafted Makar in the seventh round, 220th overall, in 2021. He spent the first three years of his collegiate career with UMass-Amherst.
