The Colorado Avalanche have signed goaltender Alexandar Georgiev to a three-year contract with a $3.4-million average annual value.

The Avalanche acquired the Bulgarian-born Russian netminder from the New York Rangers on Thursday for a third-round pick and fifth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft as well as a third-round pick in 2023.

Georgiev had a 15-10-2 record with a 2.94 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage backing up 2022 Vezina Trophy winner Igor Shesterkin in New York this past season.
