The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Sampo Ranta to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Ranta will report to the AHL’s Colorado Eagles.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a successful junior season at the University of Minnesota, finishing with a career-best 31 points in 31 games. He ranked second in the college ranks with 19 goals.
Ranta was a member of Finland’s gold medal-winning 2018 IIHF Under-18 World Championship team. He also suited up for his country at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Colorado selected him in the third round of the 2018 draft.
