The Colorado Avalanche have signed big two-way player Kurtis MacDermid to a two-year contract extension.
Terms of the contract were not disclosed by the team.
The 28-year-old has skated in a career-high 53 games this season and is third on the Avalanche with 96 hits. A six-foot-five defensive defenceman who has also played some forward, MacDermid has two goals and five points this season.
MacDermid began his career with the Los Angeles Kings and was acquired by the Avalanche from the Seattle Kraken last July.
“Kurtis has done everything we’ve asked of him this season. He brings toughness and versatility to our lineup, playing both forward and defence, sometimes both in the same game,” said Avalanche Executive Vice President & General Manager Joe Sakic. “He’s a great teammate and well respected in our locker room. We’re excited to have him under contract for two more years.”
