Colorado Avalanche star centre Nathan MacKinnon will be in action Friday night after blocking a shot during Wednesday's game against the Vancouver Canucks, coach Jared Bednar told reporters.
MacKinnon appeared to be in discomfort after he blocked a shot from Brock Boeser with his lower leg during a 5-2 Avalanche win. MacKinnon did finish the game and assisted on Mikko Rantanen's late goal, but was sent for x-rays afterward, according to multiple reports.
The Halifax native has six goals and 17 assists in 18 games this season.
The 28-year-old MacKinnon is a six-time all-star and helped the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup in 2022.
The Avalanche (12-6) are two points behind the Dallas Stars in the race for top spot in the Central Division.
