Colorado Avalanche star defenceman Cale Makar will miss his second game in a row with a lower-body injury on Thursday against the San Jose Sharks, the team announced.
The team says it does not have a return timeline.
Makar has already missed 16 games this season because of injuries, from a concussion in February to a lower-body injury now.
Makar has 16 goals and 49 assists for 66 points in 60 games this season.
The two-time All-Star won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP last season after the Avalanche captured the Stanley Cup.
Avalanche forward Darren Helm also will sit out with a lower-body injury on Thursday.
