Eight Edmonton Oilers draft picks, including two from the 2023 draft, will take to the ice for the team's rookie camp that begins Wednesday.
Beau Akey, the Oilers' second-round pick (56th overall) and Nathan Day, the team's sixth-round pick (184th overall), are among the players who will report for medicals and fitness testing at Rogers Place before the team departs for Penticton, B.C., for scrimmages and on-ice workouts, Sept. 15-18.
Also among the attendees are Xavier Bourgault (2021, 22nd overall), Carter Savoie (2020, 100th overall) and Tyler Tullio (2020, 126th overall), all of whom played for the Oilers’ AHL affiliate Bakersfield Condors last season.
Edmonton’s rookie roster features 25 players: three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 14 forwards. After rookie camp, some players will move up to participate at the main club's training camp.
