The Chicago Blackhawks' injury woes continued when they ruled out forward Nick Foligno in the third period of their game against the New Jersey Devils on Friday.
Foligno didn't return to action after a long fight with Brendan Smith in the second period.
Foligno's injury followed an injury to Blackhawks star forward Connor Bedard, who was removed from the game in the first period after being on the receiving end of an open-ice hit from Smith.
After the loss to the Devils, Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson told reporters that both Foligno and Bedard will be re-evaluated when the team returns to Chicago.
Foligno has eight goals and nine assists in 39 games this season.
The Blackhawks are dealing with a ton of injuries. Tyler Johnson, Anthony Beauvillier, and Taylor Raddysh all have been hurt recently.
Taylor Hall, Seth Jones, Joey Anderson and Andreas Athanasiou all have been out longer term.
