Chicago Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson says it was an "organization decision" to make veteran forward Corey Perry a healthy scratch against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
Richardson went no further in explaining the decision after the team's 7-3 loss, Chicago's fifth consecutive defeat.
Perry is third on the team in scoring with nine points (four goals, five assists) in 16 games.
The 38-year-old Perry is a four-time NHL all-star and won the Hart Trophy as league MVP with the Anaheim Ducks in 2011.
The native of Peterborough, Ont. signed a one-year, $4-million deal with the Blackhawks this off-season.
