Blackhawks place Borgstrom, Connolly on waivers for buyout purposes

Chicago Blackhawks forwards Brett Connolly and Henrik Borgstrom are now on waivers for the purpose of a buyout.

CapFriendly.com says the Blackhawks will have $18.5 million in cap space after the buyouts.

Connolly had a cap hit of $3.5 million next season, while Borgstrom was due for a cap hit of $1 million.

Connolly's buyout will carry a cap hit of $1.7 million for each of the next two seasons, while Borgstrom's will be $83,334 next season and $183,334 in 2023-24.

Connolly had one assist in nine NHL games last season. He had 17 goals and 18 assists in 35 games with Rockford of the AHL last season.

Borgstrom had four goals and three assists in 52 games for Chicago last season.
