The Chicago Blackhawks will be without star defenceman Seth Jones for most of November due to a right thumb injury.
Head coach Luke Richardson told reporters that Jones injured his thumb blocking a shot in the second period of Saturday's loss to the Sabres. Despite that, he still played more than 24 minutes and contributed an assist in the game.
Jones is one of the Blackhawks' most important players and the team counts on him to play 25 minutes a night, six more minutes than his next closest teammate. In eight games this season he has four assists, but last season he finished with 51 points, the second-highest total of his career.
Jones, 28, is in the first year of an eight-year, $76-million contract.
