Blackhawks sign Athanasiou to one-year, $3-million deal

Andreas Athanasiou signed a one-year, $3-million deal on Wednesday with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Athanasiou, 27, is coming off two seasons with the Los Angeles Kings, the most recent during which he scored 11 goals and added six assists for 17 points in 28 games during an injury-shortened game.

The Mississauga, Ont., native was coming off a three-year, $2.775-million deal he signed with the Detroit Red Wings on Nov. 15, 2013.

In 378 games with the Kings, Oilers and Red Wings, Athanasiou had 105 goals and 91 assists for 196 points.
