The rangy pivot was sent to Chicago from Florida last month along with forward Brett Connolly, defenceman Riley Stillman and a 2021 seventh-round draft pick in exchange for forward Lucas Wallmark and defenceman Lucas Carlsson.
“We are receiving a very exciting, young player with a bright future in Henrik Borgström,” said Blackhawks president and general manager Stan Bowman at the time.
“He is a high-end talent and we think he has the ability to be a big-time player for us.”
Borgström, a 2016 first-round pick by the Panthers, spent the 2020-21 season in the SM-liiga, where he put up 21 points in 30 games for HIFK Helsinki. He previously suited up for the Panthers in 58 regular-season games from 2017-2020, recording 19 points and was an AHL all-star after posting 22 points across 24 games in 2018-19.
