The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Thursday they have activated defenceman Zach Werenski off injured reserve.
In a corresponding move, defenceman David Jiricek was assigned to the AHL.
Werenski, 26, has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury during a game against the New Jersey Devils on Dec. 27. Prior to the injury, Werenski recorded a goal and 24 assists across 34 appearances with Columbus this season.
With Werenski back in the lineup, the Blue Jackets moved Jiricek down to their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters. Jiricek, 20, has tallied a goal and eight assists in 36 games this season.
Werenski is expected to play Thursday night when the Blue Jackets face the Flames in Calgary. Catch the game on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ starting at 9:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. MT.
