Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will miss the remainder of the season with a lower-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.
Korpisalo was injured in Sunday’s overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning and was unable to finish that contest. He joins teammates Zach Werenski and Boone Jenner, who had previously been shut down for the season with injuries.
Goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks has been activated from the taxi squad on emergency conditions ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.
The Blue Jackets are in the midst of their worst slump of the season, with a 1-10-2 in April, including a current nine-game winless streak.
Korpisalo made a name for himself during the playoffs last season when he set an NHL record with 85 saves in a five-overtime loss to the Lightning. This season, he posted a 9-13-7 record with a .894 save percentage.
