The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Max Domi to a two-year contract extension with an average annual value of $5.3 million.
The deal with his new team will pay Domi $4.6 million in 2020-21 and $6 million in 2021-22, and means the 25-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent when his new contract expires.
Domi was acquired by the Blue Jackets on Tuesday from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for fellow RFA forward Josh Anderson. Columbus also received a third-round pick in the trade, which the team used to select Slovakian defenceman Samuel Knazko.
Domi is coming off a two-year bridge deal worth $6.3 million that the Winnipeg native signed upon landing in Montreal in June 2018 after being acquired from Arizona in exchange for Alex Galchenyuk.
