The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenceman Zach Werenski on injured reserve, retroactive to Feb. 4, and he is expected to miss one to two weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Saturday.
The 23-year-old D-man was hurt during the team’s 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars on Thursday. Werenski didn’t play the final 4:05 of the game after getting hurt.
Werenski has had a slow start to his fifth NHL season, recording a goal and three assists in 12 games.
The eighth pick in the 2015 NHL Draft has put up more than 40 points in three of his past four campaigns, including 41 in 63 games with the Blue Jackets last season.
