Ahead of Friday's NHL Draft, the St. Louis Blues added some depth up front.
The team completed a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets, acquiring forward Alexandre Texier in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick.
St. Louis then signed Texier to a two-year extension with an annual average value of $2.1 million.
The six-foot-one centre was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1.
Texier, 24, has spent the first five seasons of his NHL career in Columbus, skating in 201 games while scoring 34 goals and 79 points.
In 2023-24, the former second-round pick had a career-best year, scoring 12 goals while racking up 30 points. He also scored two shorthanded goals for the Blue Jackets.
