The St. Louis Blues seemingly got more bad news on Saturday when coach Craig Berube said defenceman Torey Krug would be sidelined for "some time" with an undisclosed lower-body injury.
Krug left the ice with 8:58 remaining in the first period, and the Blues later confirmed he would not return. The 31-year-old has recorded three assists for St. Louis in the playoffs.
Added Berube to reporters: "It's unfortunate. He's not around, so somebody else has to come in and do the job."
It represents a third loss on the blue line for the Blues, who have been playing without Nick Leddy and Robert Bortuzzo. Both have upper-body injuries.
Krug, one of the Blues' top three defencemen, was a high-profile free-agent signing in October 2020, when he signed a seven-year contract with the Blues worth $45.5 million.
