Bruce Boudreau wasn't out of work long.
Fired as coach of the Vancouver Canucks last month, Boudreau is returning to NHL Network as an analyst, the company announced on Thursday. He'll make his first appearance on Thursday on NHL Tonight.
"I am so happy to be back at NHL Network because the people I got to know are incredible, not only nice, but people who know hockey through and through. I’ve always been part of a team my whole life and this was one of the best that I’ve ever been on, so it was an easy decision for me when they asked if I wanted to come back," Boudreau said.
The veteran coach worked as an analyst for NHL Network from August 2020 to December 2021 before he was hired by the Canucks.
The 68-year-old Toronto native, who became popular with Canucks fans, was in the spotlight all season as his job status twisted in the wind.
Finally, after months of speculation, Boudreau was fired and replaced by Rick Tocchet on Jan. 22 -- but not before Canucks fans chanted "Bruce, there it is" numerous times during the two games before the move.
Boudreau also has coached the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild. His career record is 617-342-118 in 1,087 career games.
