Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand exited Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers due to illness, the team announced.
Marchand missed a shift in the first period but returned to the ice later on in the frame. However, he did not return to the bench for the second period and the team ruled him as questionable to return.
The Halifax, N.S., native finished second on the Bruins in scoring last season, tallying 29 goals and 38 assists for 67 points.
Marchand, a four-time All-Star Team selection, is entering his 16th year in Boston after being drafted by the team in 2006. The 36-year-old was named the team's captain ahead of the 2023-24 season.
