Boston Bruins defenceman Michael Callahan has been fined $2,018.23 by the NHL Department of Player Safety for a cross-check against Anaheim Ducks forward Jansen Harkins.
The fine, which is the maximum allowable the collective bargaining agreement, was handed down on Thursday.
Callahan received a two-minute high-sticking penalty for the infraction during Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Ducks. Harkins later took matters into his own hands, challenging the Boston blue-liner to a fight.
The 25-year-old has yet to record a point through 14 games in his rookie season. Callahan was originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 draft by the Arizona Coyotes before having his right dealt to Boston in 2022.
