The Boston Bruins placed defenceman Hampus Lindholm on the injured reserve Saturday.
According to Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery, Lindholm is expected to be out multiple weeks due to a lower-body injury.
Lindholm left the team's 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday with three minutes remaining in the first period after blocking a shot in the slot from defenceman Justin Faulk.
The 30-year-old from Helsingborg, Sweden, has three goals and four assists in 17 games this season while averaging 20:51 in ice time.
Boston also recalled forwards Georgii Merkulov and Riley Tufte from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. Forward Patrick Brown was sent down to Providence.
The Bruins (8-8-2) are third in the Atlantic Division.
