The Boston Bruins have placed winger Taylor Hall on long-term injured reserve, giving the team $6 million in LTIR cap space.
The Bruins also placed forward Nick Foligno on injured reserve and recalled forward Jakub Lauko from AHL Providence.
The team told reporters there are no timelines for the return of Hall or Foligno.
The Buins added salary to their roster on Thursday by acquiring forward Tyler Bertuzzi in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings.
Hall, a former No. 1 overall pick by the Edmonton Oilers, has missed the past two games with a lower-body injury.
The 31-year-old product of Kingston, Ont. has 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points in 58 games for the league-leading Bruins this season.
The Bruins also placed forward Nick Foligno on injured reserve and recalled forward Jakub Lauko from AHL Providence.
Foligno, 35, has appeared in 60 games with Boston this season, posting 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points.
The Bruins host the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.
