The New Jersey Devils now have two Foote brothers in their system, as they announced the signing of defenceman Cal Foote to a one-year, two-way deal worth $800,000 Wednesday.
Foote is the older brother of Devils forward Nolan Foote.
Cal, 24, finished the 2022-23 season with the Nashville Predators after they acquired him from the Tampa Bay Lightning ahead of the trade deadline.
In 50 combined NHL games with the Predators and Lightning last season, Foote had two goals and five assists. He has five goals and 14 assists in 141 career games at the NHL level and won the Stanley Cup in 2021 with the Lightning.
Foote was selected 14th overall by the Lightning in the 2017 NHL Draft. He and his brother are the sons of former NHL defenceman Adam Foote, who is now an assistant coach with the Vancouver Canucks.
