The Calgary Flames placed defenceman Nick DeSimone plus forwards Martin Pospisil and Emilio Pettersen on waivers Thursday.
DeSimone appeared in four games with the Flames last season. He also played 65 games with the Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League and recorded eight goals and 38 assists for 46 points.
Pospisil and Pettersen both spent last season with the Wranglers. Pettersen had 19 goals and 25 assists for 44 points in 61 games while Pospisil registered four goals and six assists for 10 points in 20 games.
Earlier Thursday, the Flames re-assigned goaltender Dustin Wolf, defencemen Yan Kuznetsov and Jeremie Poirier, and forwards Lucas Ciona and Connor Zary to the Wranglers. Top prospect Sam Honzek was also sent to the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League.
Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Penguins placed forwards Andreas Johnsson, Joona Koppanen and Alexander Nylander on waivers.
The Seattle Kraken also trimmed their roster by 10, putting forwards Cameron Hughes, Kole Lind, Max McCormick, Andrew Poturalski, Devin Shore and Marian Studenic plus defencemen Connor Carrick, Gustav Olofsson, Mitch Reinke and Jimmy Schuldt on waivers.
