After Team Canada suffered a quarterfinal loss to Czechia at the world junior championship on Tuesday in Sweden, Canadian hockey fans enjoyed a much better evening.
Canadian teams tied an NHL record set four previous times by recording six wins on one night, per Sportsnet Stats.
The Ottawa Senators were the only one of seven Canadian NHL teams to lose Tuesday, and they suffered a 6-3 setback in an all-Canada contest against the Vancouver Canucks.
The Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames joined the Canucks in the win column.
Canadian NHL teams have gone 6-0 on one night three times — most recently Feb. 17, 2022 — and 6-1 once.
Could all seven actually win on one night? The next chance for that is Jan. 11 when there are seven Canadian-team-versus-American-squad clashes.
