Canadiens acquire Andrew Hammond from Wild for Brandon Baddock

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired goaltender Andrew Hammond from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Brandon Baddock.

Hammond has a 6-2-3 record with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage with the AHL's Iowa Wild this season. The 34-year-old has played in 56 career NHL games with the Ottawa Senators and Colorado Avalanche where he has a 27-15-6 record 2.31 GAA along with a .923 save percentage.

Hammond joined the Senators as an undrafted free agent with the Senators in 2013 and made his NHL debut in 2015. The Surrey, B.C., native took the NHL by storm when he posted a 20-1-2 record in 23 starts with a .941 save percentage helping Ottawa reach the playoffs where they were eliminated by the Canadiens in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Baddock was originally drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils. He joined the Canadiens as a free agent in 2020 and made his NHL debut this season.

In 33 games in the AHL with the Laval Rocket, the Vermilion, Alta., native has three goals and seven points.
