Montreal Canadiens forward Paul Byron and goaltender Cayden Primeau have been added to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols, the team announced Wednesday.
The pair joins a long list of Canadiens in health and safety protocols that saw five players added Monday.
One of the five added Monday was netminder Jake Allen, Primeau was subsequently called up from AHL’s Laval Rocket to bolster Montreal’s goaltender depth.
The 22-year-old goalie has dressed for three NHL games in 2021 and has a record of 1-2-0 with a .904 save percentage.
32-year-old Byron has not played a game this season as he rehabs from offseason hip surgery.
The Montreal Canadiens (7-21-4) are last in the Atlantic, they play the Carolina Hurricanes (21-7-1) on Thursday.
