The Montreal Canadiens will be without defenceman Ben Chiarot for six to eight weeks as he recovers from surgery on his hand, the team announced Monday.

Chiarot underwent surgery on Monday to repair a fractured hand that he suffered on March 10 against the Vancouver Canucks.

The 29-year-old has one goal and four assists in 25 games for Montreal this season.
